Benue youths under the auspices of Benue youths Forum, the umbrella body of all youth groups in Benue State have expressed their total support for the ongoing military operation in the state aimed at ending the fast growing spate of terrorism in the Benue valley.
The youths in a world press briefing which held in Makurdi today, commended the efforts of the military in curtailing the growing spate of local armed conflicts and acknowledged the achievements so far recorded by the Nigerian Army .
The group hinted that Benue State remains a home to President Buhari and remain confident that he will never abandone them in their hour of need like the recent activities of criminal elements who wanted to bring the state and its people down for no reason.
In a statement read by the National President, Comr. Terrence Kuanum, the youth particularly praised the Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai led Nigerian Army in the manner they have carried out their operation so far which has yielded positive results even as they further encouraged the Nigerian Army to intensify efforts to flush out all criminal elements operating within and from outside the State .
“We totally support the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against terrorism and applaud it’s accompanying achievements as so recorded in the major arrest at the Benue border”. The group stated.
The youths have also debunked all claims of accusation that they had accused the president of sponsoring the current wave of killings in the state by perceived Fulani herdsmen . They clearly stated their appreciation of the president’s efforts to end the incessant attacks on farmers.
“We totally dissociate ourselves from accusations against the president in this light by stating clearly here that our mention of his person is in regards to his patronship of MACBAN and thus appealed that he wades into the crisis and have never accused him of involvement in the evil plot”. They declared.
According to them their commendation of the Nigerian Army was in recognition of the achievements the mission had registered in the short period it had deployed its personel. They specifically noted that the recent arrest of the confessed killer of Governor Ortom’s aide which has been an issue of worrying to the state and the breaking of prominent robbery and kidnap rings in the region were worth commendation.
They have further enjoined the military to leave no stone unturned in its fight against not sparing anyone in the course of ending the reign of terror which is gradually taking over the state.
“We will always support their noble efforts to reinstate peace in the nation and Benue in particular. It is our earnest belief that this recent military campaign will bring lasting peace to the Benue valley”.
