The Executive Chairman of Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, Hon Dr Fred Okem, has pledged to provide total support to Youths in the council as his administration progresses rapidly to boost their development.
Dr Okem made the pledge during a recent visit by Everistus Ikpa and other members of Ukelle Renaissance to invite the chairman to grace the maiden Ukelle Development Summit.
In a chat with correspondents in his country home of Lemma-Ukelle, the chairman reiterated his commitment to; “charting reasonable causes that would jolt the younger generation to engage in meaningful enterprises for economic development”.
While expressing deep gratitude over the success of the event and the Chairman’s unique interest in youth oriented programmes, Everistus Ikpa, President of Ukelle Renaissance highlighted that Dr. Okem’s interest in youth development shows that there is hope in his administration which has promised to prioritise initiatives that are geared towards the needs and aspirations of young people in the council.
Mr Ikpa who is also an economic development scholar commended the Chairman for his pledge to support Ukelle Renaissance’s upcoming events especially the warm assurance that Ukelle Renaissance and other pro development associations should always count on his continued involvement and backing for the overall interest of Yala LGA people.
In company of the former Secretary of Ukelle Renaissance, Michael Neji, Ukell Renaissance team and the Chairman discussed ways in which the group can partner with the Council to create opportunities for youth involvement in various aspects of governance, education,
and entrepreneurship.
