As the noble bard of yesterday, James Russel Lowell, eloquently stated, “once to every man and nation, comes the moment to decide, in the strife of truth and falsehood, for the good or evil side, some great cause, God’s new Messiah, offering each the bloom or blight, and the choice goes by forever. Twixt that darkness and that light, though the cause of evil prosper, yet this truth alone is strong.”
Understandingly, good leadership is the process whereby public institutions conduct public affairs, manage public resources and guarantees transparency. Good Leadership accomplishes this in a manner essentially free of abuse and corruption, and with due regards to the rule of law.
The true test of “Good leadership” is the degree to which it delivers on the promise of human rights; civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights. Therefore, meaningful development requires equitable distribution of resources in a transparent and accountable manner with political resolve and commitment.
Alphonsus Ogar Eba Esq is undoubtedly one unique personality that many Cross Riverians, especially his dear Yala Nation, will always rely on anytime, any day and everywhere in the society for effective leadership as a worthy ambassador in governance. It will be recalled that this same distinctive leader who is currently the Director General, Cross River State Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau, has been frequently attacked on social media by some social bugs, for reasons that were not made clear to the public.
But as fate may have it, Barr Eba did not relent. In his magnanimity he rather challenged his critics with efficiency and focus. No wonder Cross River State Due Process under his watch has recorded giant strides and saving the state billions of Naira that would have been lost through over-bloated pricing.
Since assumption of office as Director-General, Cross River State Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau in 2015 and his reappointment in 2019, he has ensured transparency, accountability, equality and efficiency in the limelight of the government agenda.
And according to ZigZiglar, “It’s obvious that; outstanding people have one thing in common; an absolute sense of mission.” Alphonsus Ogar Eba Esq has been steering the ship of “public service” in Cross River State in order to actualise His Excellency, Sir Ben Ayade’s dream and vision of the spirit of enterprise.
Following this school of thought, the digital governor has done enough in terms of infrastructural development, fiscal policy and massive road construction across the state.
On the chart of Eba’s good leadership, is his display of capacity as the DG CRS-Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau. And to put an end to unemployment among his supporters, Eba has created a link for the employment of over 100 workers accross different ministries in the state. To further strengthen his current effort on job creation, over a 100 state appointments were influenced by him.
The dynamic Director General has done a lot in improving the standard of public service. This follows his pragmatic leadership style and contribution to the Gov Ayade’s “spirit of enterprise” in Cross River State. His laudable performance will remain indelible in the history of Cross River State.
Since the anointing of leadership is bestowed upon him (Eba) now, as it was in the days of the Biblical Moses to lead the covenant children of God to the promise land, the Cross River State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family must join hands both great and small to support Eba’s mission to lead under the Umbrella as the Chairman, because the responsibility of Cross River PDP will not rest with him alone but with every Cross River State PDP family, and though the cross will be on his shoulders, the burden shared are easier to bear.
He declared fervently in his mission statement that; “he promise to serve the Party/ people on the ground of humility, transparency, accountability, integrity and good governance” to improve the human resource and quality of life of the people.
Every power has its source from the divine and Eba has continued to acknowledge as he continue to enjoy the overwhelming endorsement of critical stakeholders and notable members of the party in the state. The days ahead shall be challenging, comforting and a celebration for all.
