Cross River State female Senator representing Northern senatorial district of the state in the upper legislative chamber, Senator Rose Oko on Thursday visited the crisis ridden communities of Wanikade and Wanihem in Ukelle, Yala local government area calling for lasting peace.
Oko, who decried the unfortunate incident, informed all present at the peace meeting of her motion and prayers over the incidence.
The high point of the event, witnesseed a mild drama as the clan heads of the warring communities of Wanikade and Wanihem embraced each other as a sign of the peaceful resolution to further hostilities.
While she acknowledged the efforts of Governor Ben Ayade, the police, army and the DSS, she supported the communities with funds to help them provide relief materials to the over 10,000 displaced people.
She further promised to follow up on her motion in the Senate to ensure that her prayers are met.
