Suicide Bombers Kill 16, Injure 46 In Konduga, Borno State

Three suicide bombers, suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists, killed 16 people and injured at least 46 others in Mashimari village in Konduga Local Government Area, Borno State on Monday, a rescue worker told SaharaReporters.

Mohammed Ibrahim, who works for the Borno State Emergency Management Agency, said three terrorists – two men and one woman – stormed the village and fired shots indiscriminately before detonating their explosives in separate locations.

He said that at least 46 people were wounded in the attack, and many have been taken to Maiduguri General Hospital.

Bulama Modu, the village head, said one of the bombers tried entering his house, but he was unable to open the entrance gate. He then blew himself up in front of the house.

“I was at the district head house in Konduga when people came to tell me about the bombing. I quickly rushed down only to meet dead bodies at my gate,” he said.

“They succeeded at three places. In all we lost 16 people and 46 others were wounded. Some with critical injuries have been taken to Maiduguri and those with less severe injuries are currently receiving treatment at the Konduga IDP camp clinic.”

The village hosts an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp and a military camp. Boko Haram terrorists attacked the village in May, killing two soldiers.
