The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan-Enoh has congratulated Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan for cementing her place as a sprinting superstar, by storming to a breathtaking 7.77 seconds in the 60-meters hurdles final at the Astana Indoor Meet, a time that shatters the 25-year-old African women’s indoor record.
The Minister in a statement on Saturday night, said Amusan’s electrifying performance not only propelled her to a dominant victory, but also saw her erase the legendary mark of 7.82 seconds set by her compatriot, Gloria Alozie, in 1999. He noted that the historic feat marks a new chapter in African athletics, showcasing Amusan’s relentless dedication and phenomenal talent.
Owan-Enoh further stated that “Amusan’s triumph at the Astana Indoor Meet sends a powerful message of inspiration, proving that hard work, perseverance, and unwavering spirit can lead to groundbreaking results. Her blazing speed and unwavering focus have not only redefined African sprinting, but also ignited a spark of hope and pride across the continent.”
“Congratulation, Amusan! Your record-breaking performance is a true testament to your greatness and serves as a beacon of motivation for generations of aspiring athletes to come. Keep shining, superstar!”
