This was contained in a disclaimer statement from her media office, where she said the unscrupulous elements have taken to the facebook to perpetrate the criminal act by promising people jobs in lucrative government establishments.
The statement reads in part: “The attention of the office of Distinguished Senator (Dr) Mrs Rose Okoji Oko, chairman Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGO, has been drawn to the illegal and fraudulent activities of some unscrupulous and unidentified persons parading as the Distinguished Senator and defrauding unsuspecting members of the pubic, especially her constituents with the promise of getting them job in ‘lucrative’ government institutions.
From our investigations the fake facebook account has this procedure they follow by ‘Set OkO Rose, and if you play along with the criminals, they will even send you number to call the acclaimed Engineer who is Eng Charles Gbandi, on 08051901439, that operates the account using the Senator’s name.
“A victim who was swindled by the criminals paid into their bank account N55, 600, after printing a form they asked him to download.”
The senator who is chairman Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGO, expressed disappointment over the incidence, and assured the people in her senatorial district and Nigerians generally that she cannot be a party of these criminals who are out to dent the image of innocent and law abiding Nigerians, particularly the office she occupies upon the mandate of the people.
Therefore, she asked people to avoid the Facebook account those people are using to carry out their activities.
