… reinstates commitment to electorates
The senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Sen. Dr. Rose Oko, Monday, refuted claims of maltreating aides working with her as rumours making the rounds claimed.
Oko refuted the claim in a statement. According to her the allegations were deliberate attempt to tarnish her image and were baseless, which should not be taken serious.
The federal lawmaker said her aides are hardworking, whose welfare was properly taken care of in all ramifications.
The statement reads in part, “The aides of Distinguished Senator Dr Rose Okojie Oko are not suffering, they are paid as at when due. Her kitchen supporters are not abandoned as it is being peddled around. They are doing and living well.
“And to set the record straight, it is an unfounded claim that Senior Legislative Aide (SLA), Barr Joseph Ogar, is living somewhere in Masaka, Nasarawa State, and using a rickety car. He has two road worthy cars and has no rift with Senator Rose Oko.
“He is living well with his wife and children in a high brow area called Abacha Road at Mararaba which is 10 minutes away from National Assembly.
“She cares and not vindictive as the few who are bent on vilifying her want people to believe. She is a burden bearer, a mother, and a grassroots politician who has her aides, kitchen supporters and indeed her numerous supporters of the good people of Yala, Cross River North and the state in a whole by her side.”
According to the statement her quest to serve led her (Sen Oko) to run for the House of Representative and won in 2011 and ran again for Senate and won in 2015, which she has exceptionally performed credibly well in representing her people at NASS, and her performance and impact has earned her a new name as ‘Senator Project’, ‘Mama Cross River North’ and many other such names by her teeming supporters, including the youth, women and men, technocrats, professionals, title holders, traditional leaders and political party stalwarts.
“She is on ground and with her people always. Her beauty, brilliance and charismatic boldness are inspiring and worthy of emulation. Her dexterity, diligence, and doggedness are handy and apt and endearing her to all and sundry. She carries herself with glamour and humility. She is approachable and open. And these are facts”, it added.
The statement reinstates commitment of Sen Oko to serve the people of the senatorial district.
“She has a mandate for four years that will elapse in 2019. Right now she is focused on delivering on the mandate of her good people, who has always stood by her. God willing she will not fail but continue the laudable work she has started. Praying and supporting her and all the other leaders is the right thing to do and that is how to ‘Think Cross River’.
