The senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Rose Oko, has offered scholarship to the eldest daughter of her kinsman and strong supporter, late Timothy Ndulaka, to university level.
This was disclosed by Sen Oko during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased at Okuku, where she appreciated his commitment and concern for the people of the area.
According to her, she will continue to assist children of the indigent as part of her grassroots development programme that has been initiated to impact on the rural people and to give them a sense of belonging because they are the epicenter of democracy and good governance.
She said: “It is with a heavy heart that I visited the wife and family of one of my committed supporter, the late Mr Timothy Ndulaka, who passed on sometime last month after a brief illness. His death was a rude shock. He will be missed.
“As part of my grassroots development programme, I have offered the eldest child of the deceased a scholarship till university level to relieve the family of the burden his sudden demise has caused. May his soul Rest In Peace.”
Sen Oko has been proactive and dogged in the issues that concerns education and capacity building based on her commitment in constructing blocks of classrooms, provision of textbooks and note books, science equipment, teaching aides, women empowerment, and other projects in the area.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased highly appreciated the federal lawmaker’s visit and thanked her for the gesture by granting their daughter scholarship till university level, which they also prayed for her and added that they will ensure their daughter attain the university level of education that she would in turn be of great assistance to them in the future.
