The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey Ph D has said the administration of the State Governor, Sen Prince Bassey Otu is poised to revamp the various sectors of the state’s economy especially, education, agriculture and health in line with his People First Agenda.
Senator Odey, who stated this when he received the delegation of the Nigerian Bar Association Young Lawyers Forum (NBA-YLF) during their courtesy visit to him in his office at the Ministry of Education in Calabar, called on the Forum to support and partner with the state government to deliver on its mandate for the good of Cross Riverians and Nigerians at large.
The former lawmaker, who represented Cross River North in the Senate expressed his profound appreciations for their visit and assured them of his commitment to transform the State Education Sector in line with the Governor Otu-led administration’s blueprint.
Earlier, the Secretary of the NBA-YLF, Calabar Branch, Prince Daniel Ekpo Esq, on behalf of the group, congratulated the learned Commissioner, Senator Odey, saying, “Your appointment as Education Commissioner by our Executive Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, is one we considered well deserving.
“Infact, the news of your nomination and subsequent appointment did not meet us as a surprise, considering your verifiable track records in politics and as an astute, diligent, dedicated and proactive legal practitioner.”
Continuing he said: “Interestingly, we have no doubt whatsoever that you will bring your wealth of knowledge and experience first as former Executive Chairman, Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), secondly as a former federal lawmaker, to bear by formulating policies in line with the people’s first agenda of the Governor, revamp and rebrand the Cross River State Ministry of Education to produce First Class students both in character and in learning. Students who can compete favourably with their contemporaries within the country and abroad.”
