This is not however the usual time out with the high and mighty but a sincere interaction with ‘the less opportuned’ who ironically constitute a larger part of the population.
It was a repeat of history as senator Andy in his usual character of benevolence, fed thousands of people today at Umuoru- Uga in Aguata L.G.A Anambra State.
This is coming at a time when the country is grappling with the economy which has subjected many people to suffering thereby leaving them at the mercy of hunger and starvation.
The Anambra South Senator who on Wednesday secured his party nomination/expression of Interest form, said he loves being around his people and sharing in their experiences.
He said, “I belive in helping my people and you cannot help a man if you do not know what his problems are and how he feels, that is why from time to time I come down to my people to take care of their well being. Secondly, there is so much hunger in the country, people are suffering. No money! No food! It gives me joy to feed these thousands of people here today, it is my way of showing that I care and if given the mandate to be their governor, my government will be a government that is based on the people”.
In an exclusive interview with Nwankwo Josephet a fashion designer who was one of the thousands of beneficiaries he expressed greate joy and satisfaction with Dr. Andy Uba’s good gestures.
“Truly I am overwhelmed,I have not seen this type of thing before. This is what we need. Every day I hear about government supporting people and feeding school children only on pages of papers… it is never acted upon but with what I have witnessed I strongly believe Abdy Uba is a man of action who also cares for his people and that is what we need”.
Ezibe blessing a Student of Girls High School Uga who was also present with many other students, said she was full of delight and surprise.
“I am highly delighted at what the senator is doing. Feeding this massive crowd including students,it is really encouraging. I also want to use this opportunity to thank the Senator any time we call on him he answers us . He renovated our school and is currently rehabilitating our school hostels. He is the only Senator that has done such thing as that”.
Meanwhile, the senator said he is ready to contribute meaningfully to the welfare of the people through diverse ways adding that the dedication sector in Anambra State will soon be revamped and upgraded.
