Ahead of schools’ resumption from summer break, the management and staff of African International College, (AIC) and Africa Community School (ACS), hold retreat on September 3, 2017 in Abuja for the 2017/18 session.
The spokesman of the school, Mr Adekunle Bamigbala, said the essence of the retreat focuses on self evaluation, performance and productivity, quality assurance, effective service delivery, new approach for new session, new initiatives and specific action plans, goal setting and strategies to achieve greater academic performance by students and pupils, overall discipline and determination to succeed.
According to him, the theme of the retreat for the coming academic session is “Boundless Grace for Excellence”.
Bamigbala further stated that the retreat became necessary because management tends to surpass previous achievements the school has recorded and also to create room for staff to rededicate themselves to God who grants knowledge and success, and to pray and commit the entire school activities for the 2017/18 session into God’s hand.
The retreat which will end on Wednesday September 6 will also have a period of praise, health talks and mental refreshment. The retreat has a coordinating team which include Chairman, Mr Ogwuoke Enerst, Secretary, Gbagir Emmanuel, and members are Ugoh Gabriel, Adekunle Florence, and Onwuchekwa Christiana.
It will be recalled that the school performed exceptionally in the WAEC naming Examination, which AIC was listed as number 659 on the list, where only a handful of schools from Abuja made the list. Two students in particular stood out, Nzogbu Ahunnaya, received all A1s and on B2, while Nnawuogo Chika received all A1s. This was a feat never before accomplished at AIC.
Also the students performed beyond expectation during JAMB exams with scores of 284 and others, the highest score received at AIC up to that point.
The results for the Cowbell Mathematics Competition for the FCT one of its students, Oni Tomiwa, emerged first with score of 98 points. Meanwhile, another student, Adetoun Favour, scored 1, 460 points in SAT exam, and placed him in the top 3 per cent of students who sat for the exam, granting him admission in any university in the United States of America, USA, with scholarship.
