…bemoans ailing educational standard
An educationist and Director, Capital City of Knowledge International School, Abuja, Mr Ken Olisa, has charged the Federal Government to intensify effort in rescuing and resuscitating ailing educational standard in the country.
Olisa, who made the call while speaking at the 2019/2020 End of Year/Christmas Party of the school, where he said there is much to be done to bring back the lost glory of the education standard in Nigeria, appealed to government at all levels to assist private school owners.
He said: “Well, education in Nigeria has already failed completely. The advice we can give to government and its agencies is to see how it can resuscitate the educational system in Nigeria.
“I also want to appeal to the government to formulate policies that will assist private schools. Like all you are seeing here today, there is no any single contribution or assistance, not even a single loan from anywhere.
“But if government could help private individuals that have the vision, I believe we will get to greater heights.”
Meanwhile, speaking on the effort put in to take his school to where it is he said the journey began on September 11, 2017, and now has two years running into the third year.
“By His mercies we discovered that the education system in Nigeria is going down day by day and we thought that bringing up a school that will help children and their destinies educationally could be developed into what is obtainable in the society.
“For the fact that the educational system is dwindling in Nigeria, we believe we can invest in this key sector that will bring it up to a very reasonable height.
“We started the school just here in Abuja and we believe we will take it to other parts of the country.
“We believe God that we will take it to the greatest height. We started with the crèche to JSS 1 and today we have JSS 3 and SS 1”, he said.
He also expressed optimism that the dream of establishing a university will come into fruition if the tempo is sustained.
“And with the help of God a day will come when Capital City University will be established in Nigeria”, he added.
Earlier in her remarks, the Principal of the school, Mrs Stella Bodunrin assured that the school is focused on accelerating learning using current theory and evidence to improve professional practice.
She said, “The opportunities being offered our learner’s provide the highest quality and meets divers range of leaving obligations.
“Next year we shall see to a further development and improvement. We will continue to provide modern teaching and learning practices to the highest standard.”
The event was marked by various interesting displays by the pupils and students such as singing, dancing, debate, dramas, chorography amongst others.
Speaking also, the Chairman, Parents Teachers Congress (PTC), Chief Anthony Igbagri applauded the leadership and staff of the school for their passion and excellent teaching skills, saying the school is the best and called for more support for the school.
