As the election season at the Fct council of Nigeria Union of Journalist begins, i want to add my voice in support of the ambition of a strong woman, my sister who has taken the bold step of declaring her ambition of leading this all important council of our great union.
I didnt know Grace closely until early this year. I heard of her ambition and my initial reaction was that she stood no chance (considering the heavy weights she was up against), but when i took my time to do due diligence on her and what she represents from our colleagues in the National Assembly, i realised she was not a joker, her service of impact and loyalty to her members stood larger than her, with an amazing welfare record (I immediately remembered the story of David & Golliath)
The NUJ as an organisation does not get any government subvention, vote or allocations. The greatest asset of the union is its goodwill and without an individual with an untainted record of transparency and accountability like Grace, the story might remain the same (leaders who use our goodwill for personal gratifications).
I think we have a great candidate in Grace Ike, without taking away much from the other candidates (who are all highly respected friends and colleagues), I think the host of heavens have aligned in favor of Grace, making the time at NUJ FCT Grace O’clock.
The massive support she is presently getting is motivated by her record of excellent service to journalists in her previous position of responsibility ( as chair person of HoR Journalists), also making this a referendum of some sort.
This has earned her all the love and support she is getting, I pray she keeps up the good job in this higher calling.
Let’s all take useful lessons from this episode, especially when handed any position of trust, authority and or responsibility.
In your day to day dealings with your colleagues, friends, even relatives, always remember that the streets are taking minutes and keeping records, at the appropriate time, they will rise either for or against you.(impunity is archaic).
Any time you think of playing smart, always remember the foolishness of the Ostrich and beat a retreat. E get why.
Congratulations to Grace Ike. One with God is majority.
This is God’s project, no man or woman can truncate it.
May NUJ FCT and her members be the ultimate winners.
May God bless us all!
