In Thailand, South Korea and Brazil, we’ve seen people get angry and demand the removal of their leaders and Presidents on the basis of mere allegations but here,we only complain and pretend to forget .
Africa has been ruled by the most unreasonable leaders the world has ever known but through out the ages, the people never get angry. Like me,the only time they get angry,we only complain to ourselves, pray to God to deliver us but take no action. At other times,we wait for others to take the step because nobody “wan carry last”.
Even when we change our leadership via elections,we most times elect worse ones with the hope that somehow they will change. But i think that even if we can’t get angry, let us try to hold our leaders to account and demand that what is good and right be done.
Visiting African countries from the North,South ,East and West of the Africa continent, the Tragedy is the same except for Egypt and Tunisia who demanded that dictators be done away with.
For me,there’s nothing wrong being Partisan but there’s something wrong if your loyalty to your political party supercedes your loyalty to yourself and those around you.
This role to be played is vested on us younger Africans who have all to lose should Africa remain the way she is. We must investigate and critique the policies and actions of our individual governments, we must insist that the OAU summit stops being yearly jamborees for old and used men without ideas leading the continent who sleep away even when their contributions are needed, we must ensure that we impede the deliberate balkanization of the African youth along ethnic and religious lines by our Political, ethnic and religious leaders.
We have a world to dominate, nobody will wait for Africa. Lace up your shoes and let’s run.
