The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja has described the Nigerian youth as the most energetic and vibrant in the world. He made this known during a courtesy call on him in Abuja by the leadership of the Nigerian Youth Parliament led by its speaker Rt. Hon. Ayodele John Ode.
He stressed that the Nigerian Youths need increased interface with other youths all over the world so that they could sharpen their knowledge and exchange developmental ideas.
In the words of the NCPC boss: “Israel is largely run by youths with patriotic zeal and passion for their country”.
He called on the Youths to always defend Nigerian and challenge themselves to contribute to the greatness of Nigeria.
According to the NCPC helmsman; “I have confidence in the youths of this country. Our greatness is not in oil, but in the capacity of our Youths”.
Rev. Uja also hinted that in the next few weeks the Commission plans to hold a Youth Conference to dialogue on issue of pilgrimage and leadership.
He admonished the Youth Parliamentarians to set up a committee that would interface with the Commission from time to time on matters of pilgrimage.
He further advised all the youths to ensure they create a small farm for themselves because according to him, “Agriculture is propelled by young people”.
Earlier, the head of delegation who is also the speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon. Ayodele John Ode commended the NCPC boss for his creative innovation at NCPC and youth inclusion in the programmes of the Commission. He further commended the Commission for the opportunity given to the Youths to participate in pilgrimage activities who would come back and replicate the experience.
He canvassed for the establishment of Youth Desks in Ministries, Departments and Agencies. The speaker solicited for a workable partnership between NCPC and the Nigerian Youth Parliament. He said; “the Nigerian Youth Parliament will like to be part of Youth pilgrimage exercise”.
He affirmed that the Nigerian Youth Parliament is different, unique and strategic. He therefore posited that any partnership with NCPC would be beneficial to both parties.
He used the opportunity of the visit to invite the NCPC boss to visit and observe one of their sittings.
