Abia Warriors have gone top of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, after securing a vital 1-0 derby win over Heartland on Sunday.
The three points from the away win has taken Abia Warriors to top spot as they now have seven points from three games.
Substitute Michael Olaha got the match-winner as Abia Warriors emerged victorious in the first instalment of the Oriental Derby on Sunday.
Abia Warriors have been impressive since the beginning of the season with back-to-back wins now and have also been unbeaten so far under new coach Henry Boboye.
In Lagos, newly promoted Ikorodu United got their first win in the top flight as they piped visiting Lobi Stars by a lone goal.
Sunday’s defeat is the first for Lobi this season.
There were also home wins on Sunday for Kano Pillars, Plateau United Enugu Rangers and Rivers United.
