The Nigerian Christian pilgrim Commission (NCPC) is set to flag off the 2018 main pilgrimage exercise on 8th December, at Victor Attach International Airport, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The commission has planned a flag off ceremony that will commence at 5pm on 8th December at Victor Attah International Airport.
The Executive Secretary of NCPC, Uja Tor Uja has invited some key stakeholders to grace this landmark event. This include the Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo who will be the special guest of honour, while the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state, His Excellency, Udom Emmanuel will be the special guest, Plateau State Gosvernor, His Excellency, RT. Hon. Simon Lalong will be the distinguished guest and the chairman of NCPC, Rev. Yomi Kasali will be the chief host.
The inaugural flight will be made of mainly intending pilgrims from Akwa Ibom state and Cross River states.
The first batch of flight schedule already released by the Commission shows that the inaugural flight would commence on Saturday, 8th December 2018 at Uyo while other intending pilgrims will be airlifted from Lagos and Abuja in this first batch schedule of four flights.
Since 2016 under the present leadership at NCPC, the flag off of the main pilgrimage exercise has often been held consistently outside Abuja. How 2016, the commission commenced the airlift of intending pilgrims from Yola International Airport in 2017 it was at the Gombe international Airport while this year it would take place at Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital.
The NCPC Boss has assured every intending pilgrim that all logistics have been put in place in Israel and other pilgrimage destinations to ensure a hitch free pilgrimage exercise this year.
This year’s main pilgrimage which formally kicks off on 8th December will run through January, 2019.
