The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev Tor Uja, has charged church leaders to get involved in the task of reviving the nation from its current state. He said this in Abuja during a meeting with church leaders meeting held at the commission.
According to him, “it is time for our church leaders to arise and heal this nation.” He further explained that “the greatness of Nigeria is in her people” and that the church needs to think of how to invest its strength in bringing back the glory of the country.
The NCPC boss urged the clerics to sensitize and encourage people on the essence of Christian pilgrimage, stating that Christian pilgrimage transcends beyond the spiritual but it also helps in building nationalistic spirit and work ethics, and encourages the development of productive capacity through skill acquisition especially for the youths so that they can bring back these ideas discussed.
Rev. Uja stressed that Christian pilgrimage in Nigeria can be an instrument of reconstruction, an instrument of preaching to the whole world. His words: “we have a challenge as church leaders to stand up and take our rightful place”. He asked: “can we trust God that pilgrimage will become a ministry”?
The NCPC boss affirmed that one of the purposes for convening the meeting was to see how the church can work together as a team to drive the purpose of God.
The meeting, which was interactive in form, dealt on sundry issues such as the church ownership of pilgrimage, self-sponsorship of pilgrims, the Support A Pilgrim to Israel project (SAPTI), spiritual content of pilgrimage , and the skill acquisition programme of the commission, inter-alia.
The meeting of top church leaders in Abuja was part of the NCPC strategy to synergize with the church in order to move Christian pilgrimage in Nigeria forward.
