NCPC Boss Hails JAMB Over Effective, Efficient Conduct Of Exams 

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja has commended the management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for the effective and efficient conduct of examinations over the years. He made the commendation today during a courtesy visit to the JAMB headquarters at Bwari, Abuja.

The Executive Secretary stated that he was at JAMB office to say a big thank you to the management for a job well done. He said JAMB is one of the elements that has taken away tribes and tongues especially in the way and manner at which they enthroned fairness in the conduct of examinations.

He advised JAMB to consider the need to extend the conduct of examinations to other countries in Africa. In the words of the NCPC boss, “we in NCPC has benefited from JAMB, we do not want to take that for granted”.

He explained that at the commencement of every pilgrimage exercise we know that we have medical personnel that would go to Israel with us to take care of the pilgrims, but the process of getting qualified medical personnel was a challenge, hence the collaboration with JAMB.

According to the ES, “under the JAMB the examination is conducted by the Board and the results are released within two minutes. He stressed that since the Commission engaged JAMB for the conduct of the online medical examination, there has not been any loss of pilgrims because the medical personnel selected to take care of the pilgrims are well qualified. His words, “they have the competence required”.

 

The NCPC helmsman disclosed that about 500 medical personnel applied for this year’s Federal Medical Team online examination scheduled to hold on the 24th June, 2017 at six designated centres simultaneously across the Geo-political Zones

He called on the Medical Personnel that would write this year’s online medical examination on 24th June, to expect fairness. His words, “I would like that JAMB should continue and improve on their infrastructure”.

Speaking during the visit, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede who was represented by the Director of Special Duties, Mr. Olujide Adisa appreciated the Executive Secretary and his management team for their maiden visit to the Board.

The Registrar stated that the Board has been waging war against Examination malpractices. According to him, “we are working hard to ensure that the examination is fair and free”.

He stated that JAMB is a testing organization and has been doing this for over fourty years. He described examination as a “battle” no matter the level. He explained that the board has introduced ten fingers biometrics to check examination malpractices.

He further disclosed that recently the board has engaged the services of Vice Chancellors to supervise the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as State Examiners.
