NASS Will Pass 2016 Budget Before End Of The Week – Saraki

Following the report of the Senate Committee on Appropriation on the 2016 budget, which was laid on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has assured that the budget will be passed by the National Assembly before the end of the week.

Saraki stated this in his Facebook post with the handle @AbubakarBukolaSaraki and revealed that the upper legislative chamber also received the report of the Conference Committee on the 2016-2018 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) among others.

He said, “Today, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Danjuma Goje, laid the report of the 2016 Appropriations Bill on the floor of the Senate.

“Additionally, the Senate received the report of the Conference Committee on the 2016, 2017, and 2018 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP).

“Finally, in accordance with Section 85(2) and (5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic, the Senate received the Annual Report of the Auditor-General of the Federation on the Accounts of the Federation of Nigeria for the year ended 31st December, 2014.

“With this, the Senate intends to concentrate on the budget and to pass it before the end of the week.”
