The Jaiz Charity and Development Foundation on Friday partnered with the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) to cater for the health needs of the down trodden in the country and donated N5 million for surgeries of 100 Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) patients.
The director general and CEO of the foundation, Amb. Adamu Ibrahim who presented the cheque to the national president of IMAN, Dr Salisu Ismail, said the donation was made following the approval of its board and in line with the strategic intervention of the foundation.
According to him, the N5 million will be used by IMAN to carryout surgeries for 100 VVF patients at the cost of N50,000 each, adding that the medical procedure will be flagged off on Saturday9 at Sabon Wuse General Hospital, Niger State by the wife of the president, Mrs Aisha Buhari, saying it will cover 24 states of the country.
Speaking further, Ibrahim said, “the foundation which is a separate establishment is set up nationally by Nigerians, for Nigerians and beyond to carryout interventions in various forms and ways, in education, agriculture, health, humanitarian services, such as flood disaster, insurgencies across the state to help the very poor in the society.
“We have done direct interventions to IDPs in Adamawa, Gombe, Borno, Bauchi and even direct interventions with the displaced who are not in the camp. And recently we have also undertook intervention in the eastern part of the country, in Enugu, Ebonyi and Abia states. Where we see need for interventions we go and help, as long as they meet our criteria for humanity.”
Earlier, the national president of IMAN, Ismail, who thanked the management of the Jaiz foundation for its timely gesture and intervention through the donation it made, assured that the contributory fund will be judiciously used for the surgeries of the indigent patients.
