On April 30, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, SAN, inaugurated the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Extended Special Public Works Across the 774 Local Government Areas of the Federation, chaired by the Director-General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE)
The committee was set up to devise a strategy for the implementation of job creation.
Speaking at the inauguration of the committee, his Special Assistant on Special Duties and projects, Christopher Omoaghe, who is also a member of the committee said that with the machinery the Honorable Minister has put in place it will be difficult if not impossible for politicians to hijack the process, saying any politicians nursing such thoughts should bury it immediately.
The Special Assistant stated that it is not business as usual, as you know the administration of President Buhari is one that believes in equity and fairness.
The Beneficiaries for the jobs will be drawn from the unskilled labour market and we will ensure that it will not be based on favoritism but rather to ensure spread evenly across the country. Noting that all relevant stakeholders will be consulted to achieve this goal
The Honorable Minister of State is bent on achieving the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari to the later.
