The minister of interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau on Monday decorated the newly promoted senior officer of the Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps (NCDSC), Nathaniel Ubong as the new deputy commandant general (DCG) of the corps in charge of private guard companies.
Gen Dambazau, who expressed confidence in the newly decorated officer said the decoration is a confirmation of his commitment to the corps and the country in general.
The new DCG was formerly the assistant commandant general of the corps and hails from Akwa Ibom State. He is the first to occupy the post from the South South region of the country.
The decoration exercise was witnessed by the commandant general of the corps, Abdullahi Muhammadu, including other senior officers, friends and junior officers of the corps.
Speaking at a reception in his honour, DCG Ubong expressed appreciation to to his colleagues and friends for joining him to celebrate his elevation. He said, “When I joined the corps I never dreamed of becoming a commandant, but I remember asking my mother to pray for me and today is a reality of the prayers.
He urged the officers to remain focused and determined in the discharge of their duties and they will get to the level they never imagined.
Also speaking during the reception, a friend of the new DCG, who spearheaded the occasion and supervisory councillor for education, sport and social development, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Gabriel Oluohu Bravo, tasked the officers to learn from the DCG’s sterling qualities and gallantry.
