The Federal Government has assured the people of Katsina state of completion and commissioning of ongoing power projects in the state to reduce attacks on communities by bandits.
The minister of power Abubakar Aliyu and the minister of state for power Goddy Jedy Agba gave this assurance in Abuja, when members of the Katsina Elders Forum led by Senator Abba Ali engaged the top management team of the ministry of power on the inadequate supply of electricity in the state as a result of delay in the completion of power projects.
According to a statement issued in Abuja Tuesday by the special assistant on media to the minister of state Mr Ofem Uket, the Federal Government has said the Katsina Wind Mill power project shall be commissioned on December 18th 2021, arguing that power projects in Katsina would be given urgent attention, just like every other section of the country.
Again, the managing Director Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN Engr. Sule Abdulaziz disclosed that the projects in question were awarded by late President Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua”s administration, to ensure steady supply of electricity to consumers in Katsina state and its environs.
He explained that the delay in completing the projects is caused by low budgetary provisions over the years, he however assured that contractors handling the projects have since returned to cite.
The leader of the Katsina Elders Forum Senator Abba Ali stated that there are 8 number power projects currently going on in the state, saying if there are completed the economy of Katsina state will receive a boost and as well reflect on the National Development Plan of President Muhammad Buhari’s administration.
