Group, NDLEA urge Imo youth to shun drug abuse

A and T global services limited and Kaita integrated services limited in conjunction with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have called on youths in Imo North senatorial district to shun drug abuse.

The group made this call on Thursday during a sensitization And awareness campaign organised by the group within Imo North Senatorial district.

According to the organizations head, led by babatunde Micheal and sulueiman Musa, they appeal to youths to stop engaging in sales of drugs around school premises. They equally appeal led to parents to monitor there children.

“ the increasing rate of drug abuse and alcohol consumption among youths of secondary schools in the state, which is one of the problems affecting school-age teenagers.

“ such an experiment with drugs, alcohol, and tobacco times started from elementary schools and reach a peak in high schools where its adverse effect is remarkably high on the students.

“ the unrestrained abuse of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and other prohibited drugs used by students hinder the achievements of their educational attainment and leverage to vices such as gangsterism, gang rape, and cultism”, he added.

“It is also concerned about the need to embark on sensitisation campaign programmes on the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco among the students and its harmful effects as schools resumes from forced closure occasioned by COVID-19 Pandemic,” he said.
