President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has made his mark. He led the country with humility. He was humane in his approach to governance. A peace living Bayelsa man per excellence. A detribalised Nigerian leader who made lasting impact across the 36 states of the federation.
His emergence was truly the birth of fresh air, inspite of the attempts to make the country ungovernable, which we all now know better, he held sway with zest and tranquil mind. He remained focus with the pursuit of his transformation agenda which translated the economy of the country into the largest and viable in Africa until the bad and inept governance of our today’s administration stepped in.
Youths found their voices and spaces and thrived in their chosen profession, attained their dreams and aspirations. Youths were empowered in their numbers through support initiatives the GEJ administration introduced.
Under GEJ the ones hated field – agriculture – became attractive to brooding youths. Youths fall on themselves to join the farmers club. The. World reckoned that there was never a time Nigeria witnessed a boom in interest towards agriculture. GEJ and his competent team made it happened.
Entertainment was on all time high, as the industry became a boom, attracting many youngsters. Names are too numerous to mention. Nigerian entertainers became inspiration for Africa and the world with their powerful genres taking them to world stage and winning awards they never imagined. GEJ make it happen.
We all became social media advocates under GEJ. Free speech got a whole new meaning and the social media space became a platform that put government to task. GEJ opened the space and made us interfaced with each other without checks.
Inspite of the terrorism that hit so hard, GEJ’s open approach to governance fought the whole new experience to its lowest ebb. Even with ambers of disunity from notable persons who are in power today, GEJ pushed through and kept the country one.
GEJ’s legacy are too numerous. The name calling today won’t swollen it. His impact are phenomenal and remarkable.
He won the hearts of many more with his slogan during election, when he kept repeating “My ambition is not worth the blood of anyone”. He respects life and he wants peace at all time.
He handed over power, accepting defeat in the most sacrificial manner in the history of the country and even Africa at large. He is today referred to as the face of True Democrat not only in Nigeria but across Africa. May his light shine on.
Where his work stopped let another carry on and lets live in peace.
