FCT Palliative Flag Off, FCT-NANS Commands FCTA.
The Joint Campus Committee (JCC), FCT Axis, of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) commiserates with the people of FCT, Nigeria and the world over the Novel Corona Virus pandemic that is currently ravaging mankind at a pace without precedent in human history. We wish to commend the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and the FCT Minister and the Minister of State on the proactive measures taken to contain the spread of Covid 19 even as there is no known cure yet.
In a statement by Comrade Kolawole Micheal Johnson, he said the FCT, being the seat of power in Nigeria (Africas largest economy and most populous country) and a melting pot for diverse peoples and interests from across the world, was always going to be at Greater risk of the disease which necessitated the lock down order issued by Mr. President. We also wish to specifically commend the FCTA under the leadership of the Honourable Minister, Mall. Muhammad Musa Bello, and the Honourable Minister of State, Hajiya Ramatu Aliyu, on the intensive and extensive steps taken to enlighten the people of Abuja on their role to preventing the spread of Covid19 as well as the palliative being distributed to the poor in Abuja as the distribution begins in Abaji.
Worthy of note is the fact that the student community in the FCT have been duly consulted and carried along in the measures taken by the FCTA during this crisis. We as a body representing the genuine interests of Nigerian students on the various campuses in the FCT also appreciate the FCTA for the special consideration given to our colleagues, who were caught by the lock down order and unable to go back to their states of residence, to receive the palliative shared in the FCT. Indeed, unlike at any other time in the history of Abuja, we can confidently say that we have a listening and empathetic leadership of the FCTA.
We assure the Federal Government and FCTA of our continued cooperation to ensure that the FCT and indeed Nigeria comes out of this crisis stronger and more resilient in Terms of institutional and sociology economic capacity. The FCT JCC shall continue to support the genuine efforts of the government of the day to make life better for Nigerians and Nigerian students. We further assure all Nigerians that we shall not avail enemy elements of the state our enormous resources in intellect and numbers to discredit government’s efforts to build a better Nigeria.
