A former supreme court justice, James Ogebe who recently celebrated his 80th birthday and 50th wedding anniversary to Dr Mary Ogebe has bemoaned challenges young couples face in the process of establishing a good marital home. Speaking to some media practioners and the management of “Future and Hope Scholarships Foundation,” in Abuja, Ogebe revealed that as a young couple the first challenge he experience is that of extended family because they were overwhelmed and at the early stage they were wondering if they prefer some other blood relations to the other but they were able to the resolve the issue by treating relatives equally.
“Another biggest challenge couples face is eternal interference, especially, Third party and other people trying to come in carrying rumours in order to cause misunderstanding.
Mr Ogebe also revealed that; people not being properly grounded in the word of God is another cause of divorce because a lot of people go into marriage without fully knowing the implications as many think marriage is a matter of convenience when you don’t love the person again, you just get out but as a child of God he opined “You know its for life no matter what problems arise you will resolve them and get on as there is no marriage that is free from challenges”.

Also Speaking about the secret of successful marriage, Dr Mary Ogebe of the ‘Future and Hope Scholarship Foundation’, explained that, “Young couples are facing a time where they will just throw out the marriage and move on which has been the rule of the day as we have witness a few on our fingers that has packed their children and gone over to the U.S or abandoned their children with their grand parent and gone over to Canada and we keep wondering, What is this ?
Our contributions will be in counselling the younger once particularly those getting married and with people under our wings that marriage was created by someone who wants it to be permanent, work able and so you have to start and use the blueprint of God the creator of mankind and that’s following the Bible.
One of the key thing in marriage is trust and forgiveness, leave love alone. When the love is there and you come under one canopy reality sets in and you have to be able to forgive and display that trust and you have to be able to persevere, We were told that’s why we were given the marriage certificate on the day you get married because its a college you have entered and you don’t graduate and until the day die and you’re already qualified.
We take part in marriage seminars and we do our best whenever young once come to tell or show us who they have met and want to marry, We throw a few question at them and encourage them, Many of them are excited when the see us being marry for so many years as they told us they want their marriage to be like our own but we tell them, in marriage, There will be problems and challenges knowing from this from beggining will help the couple to know that, in this marriage oh, Until dead do us part, There is no question of until we separate or divorce and when you know that, God will strengthen you to succeed.
