Ahead of 2019 general election, political leaders and major stakeholders of Okpoma ward, comprising of Okpoma and O’oh wards on Saturday met and unanimously endorse the incumbent senator representing Cross River North in the upper legislative chamber, Dr Rose Okoji Oko for another term of four years come 2019.
The leaders and stakeholders under the auspices of the FEDERATED OKPOMA SUPPORT GROUP, which is a coalition of various support groups in the entire Okpoma ward also declared total support for the serving senator, who they described as the best among equals.
The group debunked the rumours making the rounds that the Okpoma people are not with their daughter in her bid for a second term in the red chamber of the National Assembly, describing it as untrue and an infigment of the imagination of the peddlers.
Present at the meeting are notable heavy weight Okpoma political leaders, grassroots mobilisers, women influencers, youth leaders, former commissioners and ward councillors, including, Major Thompson Eje (retd), Chief Patrick Odey Odo, Mrs Philomina Ihieje, Mr Elijah Okache, Hon Stephen Jasper Ogar, Hon Peter Oki.
Other personalities include, Chief Edrah Odey, Chief Odey Alila, Hon Dominic Ogwihi amongst others. The former chapter chairman, Mr Simon Otu was also in the meeting.
It was gathered that the motion for the endorsement of Senator Dr Rose Okoji Oko, during the special enlarged meeting was made by Hon Jasper and was seconded by Hon Dominic Ogwihi.
Various leaders during the expanded meeting took turns to eulogies the enigmatic personality of the distinguished Senator Dr Rose Oko, her competence, capacity, capability, pedigree and the qualitative representation she is offering to the good people of Cross River Northern Senatorial district.
The meeting ended with one singular message, which is to massively mobilise all voters across the nook and crannies of the entire Okpoma ward for Dr Rose Oko in the build up to the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and in the general election in 2019.
The meeting also agreed to mobilise Okpoma constituents enmass for the July 20 Super Mega Empowerment Programme of the Senator holding at the Ogoja Township Stadium, where the Cross River State digital Governor, HE, Senator Prof Ben Ayade, will be present as chief host and special guest of honour.
