In what many have described as vendetta, the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has withdrawn the admission of the Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly Rt Hon Elvert Eyambem Ekom and 637 others.
Many believed that the withdrawal of the admission of Speaker Eyambem is not unconnected with the process leading to his emergence, after leaders and stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC settled for him ahead of another top contender, Rt Hon Hilary Bisong, son of UNICAL VC, Prof Florence Banku Obi.
The name of Speaker Eyambem was prominently listed as number one out of the list of 55 students affected in the depart of Economics, faculty of Social Sciences. Hon Eyambem is a 100 level student, studying economics in UNICAL.
According to an insider, the affected students were withdrawn due to very poor Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
