The Cross River State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Erasmus Ekpang has expressed his readiness to support the Cross River State Sinage and Advertising Agency CRISSA, to deliver on her mandate of Revenue generation in the State.
The Hon. Commissioner expressed this commitment during his familiarisation tour to CRISSA as one of the Ministry’s clusters. Ekpang who was accompanied by the Management team of the Ministry led by the State Director of Information, Mrs Anita Ekpeyong said the visit was to afford him the opportunity of meeting with the Staff of the Agency and also to have access to a first-hand information about the activities of CRISSA.
The Hon commissioner remarked that CRISSA is a proactive agency under the Ministry of Information that needs the inputs of all to deliver her mandate effectively.Ekpang observed the challenges being faced by CRISSA was not peculiar to the Agency but also noticeable in the other Clusters already visited by him and that even the Ministry of Information was not spared of those challenges. He appealed to the Staff to be patient with government while carrying out their duties.
The Commissioner emphasis that staff training is key in enhancing the effectiveness of their outputs as such, priority will be given to training and retraining of Staff of the Ministry. Ekpang who used the occasion of the visit to inspect the premises of the Agency advised that the premises should be cleared of used and unclaimed billboards and banners that has littered the premises for long.
The commissioner promised to take up the issues of concern raised by CRISSA Director of Administration but advised that those issues be itemised and forwarded to him for further necessary action.
Speaking earlier, CRISSA Director of Administration, Mrs Nkese Iquiro expressed her delight and that of the entire staff over the visit of the Hon.commissioner, She highlighted the challenges of the Agency to include lack of vehicles for monitoring and enforcement exercises, interference of some local government Councils in the enforcement of Sinage collections, non regularisation of Adhoc Staff and non existence of CRISSA offices at the Central and Northern Senatorial Districts of the State among other challenges which has hindered their performance as a very important Agency of Government.
