The Chinese Community in Abuja under the auspices of China-Nigeria United Family has supported Nigeria journalists practicing in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja with the donation of 100 Bags Of 50kg Rice in its first phase of COVID-19 Palliative outreach to the media practitioners.
The Managing Director of Mutual Commitment Co. Ltd, Liu Zhao Long, who led the team said the outreach of the group is to help cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic which is ravaging the world.
Mr Liu, while addressing journalists during the donation exercise hailed the efforts of journalists in the frontline of covering the COVID-19 pandemic in the country in keeping Nigerians informed.
According to him, Nigeria is among the 10 top best countries containing the spread of the virus ravaging the world. He also called on the various stakeholders in the country to continue to support government efforts towards alleviating the suffering of the people due to the ongoing lockdown.
Mr Liu further assured that the Chinese community will continue to stand by journalists as he said the second phase of the palliative will soon arrive.
Earlier, the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche while receiving the food items on behalf of the council at its Utako secretariat in Abuja, expressed the appreciations of the council for the gesture.
He assured that the food items will get to every vulnerable journalist in the FCT.
