As one who has sound knowledge of the endowed pedigree of Capt. Hosa Okunbo, I wish to join his wellwishers in solidarity, arising from the recent happenings around this endowed Benin and excellent Edo man.
There is the general saying, that ‘every human being is a political animal’ ,what this means is that there are very few humans that are none align , in the politics of their State and Nation.
It therefore means that all Nigerians have the fundamental right to associate with any political persuasion or party of their choice.
Well meaning Nigerians and indeed the international community have appreciated the impact and contribution of Capt. Hosa Okunbo in the area of commerce , Aviation, Agriculture, Banking, Oil and Gas, Maritime , Electricity distribution and Corporate Security in Nigeria.
He has received recognition for hard work, innovations and awards of excellence in all of these ventures.
He is a renowned philanthropist of no mean repute; one of his act of benevolence was the grant of thousands of naira running into millions of naira , to market women at the Oba market in Benin City, whose shops were gutted by fire , leaving the women , in their thousands , helpless.
Even though he has no affinity with the market women, his bailout to the women enabled them to kick start their lives to the glory of God.
He was presented with the eviabble and prestigious ‘Ikele’ bead by the reverend Oba of Benin for his contribution to the growth and development of the Benin kingdom .
The intresting issue now, is, should a man who has this overwhelming and enviable curriculum vitae, be made to face the recent challenges , arising from his political differences or persuasions.
One has been concern , not only because of our endowed family relationship but as an Edo man and a Nigerian who has contributed once endowment in the development of our dear State and Nation.
Politics is a leveller, we have seen political office holders suffer humiliation in the hands of their constituents who if not for politics , could not have had the temerity to undermine them..
Our dear Capt. Hosa Okunbo, has been talked down on, from different sets , both ” friends” and foes , for his interest and persuasion in the politics of Edo State.
The reason majorly is his none support for the incumbent governor His Excellency Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
Be that as it may , these persons have refuse to allow our dear Capt. Hosa Okunbo to exercise his constitutional right as a citizen of the Federal republic of Nigeria to associate and align as he so desires.
The question would be, are they justified to hold or attempt to hold their amiable , pragmatic , resourceful, reliable trustworthy and generous
Capt. Hosa Okunbo hostage , the answer is capital no.
We have once posted, in respect of this issue, that a ‘gold fish ‘ has no hiding place; by divine providence Capt. Hosa Okunbo has been elevated to the status of an endowed Statesman, who should be the father of all , thus he must be none align, albeit publicly .
The event of the recent past has been unfortunate and could have been avoided, if men of goodwill will stand and ensure that relationship should not be sacrificed on the altar of political and sycophantic gains.
We wish to appeal to our dear Capt. Hosa Okunbo, to see this as a phase and forgive all those that have caused him this pain and take home the lessons from this experience.
Finally we pray that the forth coming election in Edo State , shall be peaceful.
