Following the violence that marred the Rivers State Saturday rerun elections, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce on Tuesday preferred solutions to end what he tagged #DoOrDieElections.
Murray-Bruce, who the Senator representing Bayelsa East in the upper legislative chamber is sponsoring a bill he called Independent Prosecutor Bill to end the causes of violence during elections.
The senator who disclosed this in his Facebook and Twitter handles’ posts said the independent prosecutor will be saddled with responsibility of fighting corruption and end the #DoOrDieElections.
He said in the posts, “I said it last week and I will keep saying it, if you want #DoOrDieElections to end, reduce politicians salary and block their access to the treasury.
“If INEC conducts an election in the state with ₦6 million federal allocation, I assure you you won’t see #DoOrDieElections.
“Study those states facing #DoOrDieElections they each have a common denominator, high federal allocation which internal and external forces are after
“Political parties are broke after 2015 elections and are desperate to capture states with high allocations #DoOrDieElections
“That is why my Independent Prosecutor Bill is necessary. If we had Federal & State Independent Prosecutor #DoOrDieElections will end
“Why? Because an Independent Prosecutor, elected by the people, with his own budget, will fight corruption and end #DoOrDieElections
“So please call you Senator abs ask him to support my #IndependentProsecutorBill
“My name is Ben Murray-Bruce and I just want to make Commonsense!”
