On August 28, 2021, at the Farmers Auditorium of the Santus Resort in Okuku, the reputable commercial town of Yala Local Government Area, venue of the annual Yala Achievers Award ceremony 2021, Dr Mrs Beatrice Igwe was decorated and presented with a plague and certificate as the Woman of Year.
It was the fourth edition of the prestigious Yala Achievers Award.
The award was in recognition of her laudable and commendable humanitarian gestures, philanthropy, grassroots empowerment and selfless services to the people of Yala.
While presenting the award onbehalf of the organisers, Mrs Ogbeche, congratulated her for well deserved honour and commended the organisers for having an award category to recognize and celebrate women.
Dr Mrs Igwe is the Bursar of the prestigious University of Calabar (UNICAL), Cross River State, Nigeria.
She a seasoned accountant, an accomplished woman of thought and an expert in financial management and governance.
Her love for Yala and the sons and daughters of Yala has been her driving force over the years, which has compelled her to work assiduously towards creating an enabling environment and opened the opportunities that has seen many into gainful employments.
According to her, it is all about Yala, as my first, second, and third choice and then others can follow. She is indeed Yala personified and has rallying point for all sons and daughters of Yala.
She is noted for her diligence, dedication, commitment, experience, capacity building, integrity and humility which saw her rise to the peak of the her career with the appointment as the Substantive Bursar of UNICAL, till date.
Mrs. Igwe began her career in 1991 at the Bursary Department of the then Polytechnic, Calabar (PolyCal) and joined the University of Calabar as Senior Accountant, later.
In her acceptance remarks, while thanking the organisers for finding her worthy of the Woman of the Year award, she dedicated the award to the women of Yala and above all to God Almighty by whose grace she has been able to achieve great strides in her chosen career, as well as family life.
She further dedicated herself to more selfless services in the years ahead.
