Youths Seek PMB’s Review Of Osinbajo’s Alleged Appointments In 2017

Youths under the auspices of Competent Governance for Accountability and Civic Trust and Beyond Boundaries Legacies Leadership Initiative, has called the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari, over appointments allegedly made by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in 2016/2017, as far as the fight against corruption is concerned.

This was contained in a statement duly and jointly signed by executives of the various groups, they are Amb. Omoba Micheal, Comrade Oghenero Erheriene, Comrade Omaga Daniel, and Comrade Odeh Peter, who alleged that some of the appointments made by Osinbajo was to protect his personal interest.

The statement reads in part, “If you may recall in sometime 2016/2017 the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo was made The acting president of the federal republic of Nigeria and this gave him power to make some appointment and this said appointment are not devoid of personal interest among such is the appointment of Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, as chairman of ICPC on the 1st of August 2017, this appointment was made so hasty just too protect his personal gain (Vice President). And which will make the chairman loyal to him and will make the chairman too vulnerable to any case the Vice President has interest in.

“Aside the chairman of the commission the VP is equally connected to some other top management staff of the organization. One of such persons, the source said, is the Director of Operations, Hakeem Lawal who worked directly under Osinbajo in Lagos State.

“He is said to wield unimaginable powers and influence with the active protection of Ade Ipaye in the office of the Vice President. The duo are said to have been contemporaries in the university and colleagues in Lagos State under the Vice President.

“The source said it is more dire that Hakeem is taken out because he does not have the requisite qualification and experience to sit in that position. He is neither a retired/serving senior police officer nor an experienced intelligence officer and he is occupying such a sensitive position.”

The group in the statement also said that, “The source further noted that all previous holders of that position have been individuals who have training and experience as police or intelligence officers.

“The source therefore called for a total overhaul of the ICPC not just for effectiveness in its operations but also for assurance that the anti graft agency is not tainted.”

Meanwhile, the statement further alleged that, “ICPC has current issue of alleged indictment of the MD/CEO of Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), Marilyn Amobi, which has really caught the attention of many because of the flimflam information/unprofessional act.

“The story claimed that the alleged ICPC report was dated February 6, 2019. And as at April 10, 2019, two days before the ICPC publication, NBET staff was at the ICPC office to provide additional document to the commission on the said issue.

“Why are they saying they have concluded the investigation since February 6, 2019 and another recent case again is the case between NBC/Pinnacle communication vs ICPC were the commission goofed by using a fake court order to place a post no debit on the account of Pinnacle communication plc domiciled in Zenith bank Nigeria plc with account number 1012875804.

“Now, Pinnacle communication has sued ICPC for the illegal act, with suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/779/18. May we use this prerogative to make a passionate appeal to the Hon. Minister of justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami to dabble into some of the anti-corruption cases been handle by this Osinbajo lead leadership of ICPC for the integrity and reputation of PMB is at the ebb of comatose via ICPC unprofessionalism conduct.”
