Tinubu Lauded Over Improved Synergy Between Defence and Intelligence Communities

…NSA, CDS, IGP, Others Hailed For Collaboration

The Centre for Policy and Strategic Engagement (CPSE) has hailed President Bola Tinubu for the improved synergy between the Armed Forces and other security agencies.

The Centre noted that the President’s appointment of the current security chiefs and subsequent directives to them has changed the dynamics in the war against bandits, insurgents, and other criminal elements.

In its quarterly appraisal of the Nigerian security architecture, the Centre also hailed the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and Chief of Defence Staff Gen Christopher Gwabin Musa for the new level of collaboration.

The 19-page document acknowledged the improved synergy between the Armed Forces and the intelligence communities.

It noted that President Tinubu’s first point of call to the security chiefs was for them to work as a team to deliver on their assigned responsibilities.

The report further said that unlike in times past, the nation’s security heads are united to accomplish a common objective of securing the country and establishing peace and stability.

“The appointment of Security Chiefs by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has indicated a willingness to address the challenges in the country,” it said.

“It is envisioned that the new drive is bound to produce tangibles that would address the security concerns in the country.

“In the few months of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the Armed Forces of Nigeria have been re-positioned to operational effectiveness.

“The command and control structure has been rejigged and under the active supervision of the Defence Headquarters.

“In his few weeks in office, the security architecture of the country is beginning to take shape. This is the outcome of the strategic meetings he has had with the security chiefs and the directives he gave to them to ensure coordination in their operations and also come up with a blueprint that will boost the security of the country.

“This is beginning to yield results as the country has been witnessing relative peace and stability. The different roles of the state actors in the country were clarified.

“This will give the President the leverage of putting these state actors to work effectively and to also keep devising strategies in handling the challenges posed by non-state actors.

“There is enhanced synergy between the Armed Forces and intelligence communities – a key element that was missing all these years.

“The NSA, IGP, CDS, and other security heads have worked as a team and shown the desire to collectively address the common enemy – which is insecurity. “

The Centre for Policy and Strategic Engagement, however, urged the security heads to continue in this light until the remnants of criminals are eliminated.
