“Breathe and let be”…Jon Kabat Zinn, Whosoever sows injustice reaps calamity, and the rod they wield in fury will be broken (proverbs 22:8), Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (Matthew 5:44).
In that order, these were my thought since I heard the news of the Brussels attack. You can imagine the confusion going on in my head, reminding myself again of the things I preach to myself, yet hard to live by especially in dark days the world is facing. It’s no longer news when I hear lives had been lost to cruelty, even though I have struggled in the past years to train my heart not to get used to these bad news, despite the reality that comes with it….’We live in a wicked world’, as I prefer to soothe myself with this phrase.
(1) God is not the author of confusion, but of peace…..
I have come to realize that it is so easy to stay focus on the problem at hand, giving in totally to the distractions, judging and labelling who’s evil and who’s not. Today I woke up with this song in my head “what the world needs now is love, sweet love”, for some reason(I don’t know), the song has refused to allow me dwell in my anger, that my lips just mutter the words and then I stop when I realise I don’t even mean the words. Why should I preach love in such a cruel world? How can I possibly affirm peace when hearts are troubled and fear is lurking?
EMBRACE SILENCE; Let your hearts be still and and let your soul speak.
At times like this when answers to the question why seems lost, I resolve to Silence. Releasing all the weighty thoughts in my head into that small space in my mind that collects them without trying to find meaning to them…then, I find peace there within. Peace doesn’t necessarily mean the absence of storm or chaos in our lives, it means to have the ability to be calm in your heart, amidst the storm.
“Silence has a mysterious calming affect, allowing your soul to be at peace with your thoughts”..A.D. Williams
May we find the strength to discard hate in our hearts and live in love. May the answers we seek be found in the silence of our souls and may Peace reside in the hearts of those who bare losses.
