PROTESTERS STORM PDP SECRETARIAT, CALL ON SECONDUS TO CAUTION AYADE

Scores of protesters on Wednesday took to the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party at Wadata, in Abuja, calling on the Party Chairman, Uche Secondus, to caution the Cross Rivers State Governor, Ben Ayade.

The protesters, under the aegis of Yala Political Development Forum, in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, accused Ayade of imposing LGA chairmen and vice-chairmen on them, while chanting songs.

They also carried placards some of which read, ‘Cross River is not Obudu LGA’; ‘Ayade let the people choose their leaders’; ‘We say no to imposition of leaders’; ‘We voted Ayade, Ayade should allow us vote our leaders’; ‘Anything short of free and fair primary is a direct invitation of anarchy, chaos, and huge threat to democracy’; ‘Yala say no to imposition’; ‘Secondus call Ayade to order,’ among others.

The protesters alleged that there had not been LG primaries in the state, adding that it was surprising that Ayade allegedly imposed candidates who are non-indigenes as chairmen and vice-chairmen.

They called on the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, to caution Ayade, and warned that imposition of leaders could disintegrate the PDP.
