…commends him on peace and security in the state
The Mayor of Okuku Kingdom, in Yala local government area, Chief Ogbuole Agi has commended the orderly manner His Excellency , Senator Prince Bassey Otu has maintained peace and order in the state during the ongoing 10-day protest against economic conditions in Nigeria.
Chief Ogbuole in a statement described it as a refreshing departure from the often chaotic and destructive narratives that often accompany such demonstrations in the past.
The statement said, “It is commendable to witness how Governor Otu’s tact and administrative prowess to deploy security personnel in maintaining a high level of discipline and respect for public property and lives.
“Cross River State government under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu has rightly acknowledged the right of citizens to express their grievances peacefully by choosing a non-violent approach.
“This is a significant step towards fostering a culture of dialogue and understanding between the government and its people. Such actions not only contrast sharply with the destructive tendencies seen in some quarters but also underscore the potential of the Governor to effectively handle the situation for positive change in the state.
“Governor Otu and his administration deserve commendation for creating an environment that encourages non-violent dissent. By fostering a climate of dialogue and responsiveness, the government has shown that it used proactive means to address citizens’ concerns without resorting to suppressive measures.
“I must also extend my gratitude to the security agencies for their professionalism so far. Their role in maintaining peace and order cannot be overemphasized.
He further said that the peaceful ambience of the state throughout the protests showed the understanding of Cross Riverians in line with the Peoples First Mantra of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
