Stakeholders and urban professional youths have resolved to pursue the unity and peace, re-strategising with a blueprint for effective development goals for Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State.
This position was made by the participants of the first phase of the ‘Project1000’ conference held in Abuja during the weekend.
The project is an urban development project facilitated by a community service development team, Impact World Foundation for Youth development in a bid to understand the role of the young people of Yala in empowering them, highlight their challenges as a people and propose solutions to tackle these challenges.
The conference had in attendance stakeholders from various level of governments including the serving senator representing Cross River North, Senator Rose Oko, who was represented by her senior legislative aide, Barr Joseph Ogar and PA political, Barr Alex Edim.
The Senator Rose Oko, who was represented by her personal assistant political, Barr Alex, while calling for the advancement of the cultural heritage of Yala, urged participants of the event to continue to promote Yala in dressing, mannerism and in entertainment.
Also speaking, the director general, Cross River State Due process and Price Intelligence Bureau, Barrister Alphonsus Ogar Eba called for partnership in a manner that catalyses Yala’s synergy and diversity.
The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) supervisory councilor for Health, Honorable Gabriel Bravo Oluohu, called on participants to bury all forms of fear in order to be bold to chart a course for more unified and prosperous Yala.
Also speaking, management consultant and business adviser, Prince George Ogonyi, who is advised that, project1000 should identify at least a project in every ward and come up with a blueprint of our natural resources and other developmental strategies for either the government, companies or individual intervention as the case may be.
The GM/CRO LEADERSHIP Digital Assets, Ebriku John Friday, who spoke on thuggery and social vices, lamented the alarming intake of codeine and tramadole by youth.
He stated that peer pressure contributes mainly to youth involvement in social vices, saying students spend more time with their friends in school or at home.
Also at the event were, Secretary General Universal Peace Federation (UPL), Dr Raphael Oko, Yala chairmanship aspirant, Barr Godwin Offiono and CEO of Solomons Island, Ogar Solomon Ogar amongst others.
