The Prince of Wales, Charles Philip Arthur George, have hosted a meeting of African environment leaders with Nigeria’s former minister of environment, Sir John Odey in attendance.
Odey, who stated this on Thursday in a Facebook post, said the event, which was held at St James Palace, discussed rainforest with particular interest in Cross River State and Congo Basin.
He said the historic meeting, which was orgainisd at the instance of the Prince of Wales, is to raise awareness of the need for emergency action to slow down rainforest destruction.
The post reads, “HRH hosted a meeting of African Environment leaders with Nigerian former Minister of Environment Sir John Odey at St James Palace to discuss rainforest with particular interest in Cross River State rainforest and Congo Basin rainforest.
“The Prince of Wales hosted an historic meeting of Environment leaders at St James’s Palace to raise awareness of the need for emergency action to slow down rainforest destruction. The meeting in particular highlighted the need for action to cut the greenhouse gas emissions that are caused by deforestation.”
