The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrimage commission, Rev. Tor Uja has said that Pilgrimage should not be seen as an urban programme, but a holistic program for everybody including those in the rural areas. He made this assertion in Abuja while addressing members of Catholic Youths Organization of Nigeria at a workshop in Abuja.
He explained that one of his dreams in NCPC would be that every Christian has the opportunity of going on pilgrimage at least once in a life time. Rev. Uja informed the youth that Pilgrimage is enlightening and it helps Christians understand the bible better.
He enjoined the youths to take advantage of the Pilgrimage programmes of the Commission to sponsor themselves on holy Pilgrimage saying that with just N500.00 (five hundred naira) ticket they will be able to go on holy Pilgrimage to Israel. His words, “ I want to see young people who are desirous of God to do something good for God” He added”, I will like to urge every young Christian to have a dream of performing Pilgrimage at least once in a life time”
The NCPC boss further urged the Catholic Church to sponsor most of its youths on Pilgrimage.
He promised to work closely with the catholic secretariat and would also want to learn from the church. He called on well-meaning Nigerians to invest in the youth by repositioning Pilgrimage.
Rev. Uja commended the catholic church for their rich history of Pilgrimage and for recording the least case of abscondment which he attributed to the discipline and solid foundation the church laid for its youths.
He stated that Pilgrimage is organized to expose Christians to what they have read in the bible and the things they may not have known as Christians.
The NCPC boss urged the youths to take advantage of the “support A Pilgrim” to Israel program of the Commission (SAPTI) which would enable Christians to go on holy pilgrimage by purchasing five 5 hundred naira ticket.
He averred that Nigeria is the only country where you have strong young people seeking God with all their hearts. He described Nigeria as a land of opportunities and greatness. He therefore frowned at the youths who were given opportunity to go on Pilgrimage and defect.
The national president of Catholic youth organization of Nigeria (CYON) Mr. Charles Ekpe promised to work closely with the Executive Secretary, especially in the sale of ticket for support A pilgrim to Israel promo (SAPTI)
