The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja has said that pilgrimage is a spiritual and biblical exercise that creates a lasting impact on the lives of those who have participated. He disclosed this while playing host to the Benue State Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria(PFN), recently in Abuja.
Rev. Uja told his guest that the greatest gift Christians can gain from pilgrimage is for their lives to be spiritual and physical impacted. He appealed to those who have participated in pilgrimage to positively impact on the lives of people around them.
The No 1 Pilgrim Officer posited that NCPC is charged with the responsibility to organize, coordinate and supervise pilgrimage in Nigeria and assured them that he would do everything humanly possible that pilgrimage would not be a statutory civil service exercise. According to him, “pilgrimage is a solemn and serious task and if we work together we will achieve a lot”.
He explained that God has created NCPC as an open door to evangelise to Nigerians and the outside world and urged Church leaders to join the Commission and use pilgrimage as a medium to preach Christ. In his words, “pilgrimage must go beyond site seeing but as an instrument for revival in the hands of God”.
The NCPC boss intimated that the Federal Government and State Government has supported pilgrimage in the past years and urged the Government not to relent in the support of pilgrimage. He further urged well meaning Nigerians to sponsor themselves and others especially Pastors, Youths and Women in the Church to go on pilgrimage.
The Executive Secretary informed that the Church in Nigeria is a strong force to be reckoned with globally. He urged the church to focus on its beauty and glory and use it to impact on Nigerians and the world. In his words, “it is only the church that has the capacity to address the challenges of Nigeria through prayers”.
Earlier, the Chairman of Benue State Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Benjamin Kurudu congratulated the Executive Secretary on his appointment. In his words: “we have come to celebrate the things God has done in the life of the Joseph of our time”.
He assured him of their support and prayers. According to him, “the Lord God who has raised you will sustain you”. “The Benue State Pentecostal Fellowship would want to be associated with whatever is happening in NCPC both spiritually and physically,” he added.
