Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), December 9 Convention in Abuja, a party chieftain, Sunny-Gabriel Odey, has submitted his form at the party’s national secretariat, which he is vying for the position of National Legal Adviser.
Odey who was accompanied by a mammoth crowd of supporters to the secretariat was optimistic that the party’s convention will be successful by the grace of God based on the arrangements on-going, and promised selfless service to the party and Nigerians at large if 2019 general elections.
He maintained that his quest for the position as National Legal Adviser, was based on his passion to serve and ensure a virile party where all members at any level have a sense of belonging based on internal democracy and transparency in all things, which Nigerians and the international community can trust.
While presenting his completed nomination form to the national organising secretary of the party, Sen Abdul Ningi, Odey said: “I want to sincerely thank you all for your renewed sustained support and enthusiasm for good leadership in our party as we prepare for our national convention.
“My quest for national office in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of which I am a foundation member, has been largely actuated by patriotic zeal, with a vision to partner with other national officers and party stakeholders to rebuild, rebrand and reposition the party that Nigerians and the international community can trust.”
He also cautioned members and supporters of the party that it is not time to celebrate, because the battle is not yet over.
“The battle is far from over! The current outcome provides an opportunity for transparency, accountability and inclusive leadership to thrive”, he stated.
According to him Nigerians should join the party to change the change come 2019, and he said, “We must change the change 2019”, he said.
It will be recalled that Odey was a foundational member of the party with 30 years of active legal and political experience. He has also represented the party in over 300 cases across the country in mainly political cases.
He was among the few who believed and stood as loyal party man with the party in its most trying times, and even up to the Supreme Court.
