Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention, a youth group under the auspices of Partnership Advocacy for Sustainable Systems (PASS), has thrown its weight behind a PDP aspirant for the position of National Legal Adviser, Chief Sunny Odey.
Speaking on behalf of PASS was the National Coordinator, Comrade Solomon Ogar, who said the support from the group was borne out of a new dawn at the party, where they believe Odey has all it takes to galvanise the party structure and reposition it for greater performance and service to the people.
According to Ogar he (Odey) has 31years of active forensic legal and political experience, which he has demonstrated in defending the party in over 300 cases aat different courts.
He said: “Chief Sunny Gabriel Odey (Esq) from Cross River State, South South Nigeria , and he is a legal practitioner with 31years reputable standing with vast political and business experiences garnered over the years and track records in various high profile cases; both political and civil.
“Odey is a grassroots political mobiliser with a towering political identity who has handled several electoral matters relating to the PDP in most tribunals from local, state and federal; hence acquainted with huge cognate experience to deliver on the job and a social crusader who firmly believes in the peace and unity of Nigeria.
“He has served in the party’s Congress and Screening Committee, and also he is well positioned to serve the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and country. He has contributed to the party by adding value to reconciliation efforts and mobilisation towards regaining the party’s lost mandate.
“He is a man of impeccable character who has been a loyal party man and has been with the party through thick and thin, by weathering through the storm to where it is because he believes in the unity and peace of the party, therefore has been on the vanguard of a renewed vision and mission of the party.”
He also expressed optimism that the Senator Ahmed Makarfi- led PDP National Caretaker Committee zoning the National Legal Adviser’s position to the South-South zone, the chances of Odey remains bright and that would make him emerge victorious as there would be overwhelming support and victory.
Our checks revealed that the desire of Odey for this top job of the party is not born out of pecuniary reason, but a call to serve, as his legal practice and life style indicate that he is a contented generous man, who wants others to succeed with him as he climbs the success ladder of life”, he stated.
