A front line Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship aspirant for Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, Hon Godwin Offiono, and three others on Monday escaped death in what could best be described as miraculous.
Others, who escaped the near ghastly mishap include, Mr Ogar Solomon Ogar of SolomonsIsland, a grassroots politician, Chief Anthony Igbagiri and an assistant general manager with LEADERSHIP newspaper, Ebriku John Friday.
This is just as, the State Independent Electoral Commission in Calabar, the state capital has fixed November 24, 2017 for council polls in the state.
Mr Offiono (aka Goffio), who was driving, was returning back to Abuja with others after attending a function in Okuku, organized by Senator Rose Okoji Oko.
The incident, which occured at about 5:28pm along Makurdi-Daudu road in Benue State, involved a Toyota Corolla car with Abuja registration number plate RBC 61 DH, where the car narrowly escaped a head-on collision with an incoming trailer but brushed another trailer it overtook with the car’s right side mirror, defender and front door badly damaged.
Speaking on the incident Mr Offiono said, “I rerurn all glory to God. I thought it was over at that moment, but God miraculously rigled us through the two trailers. For seeing us through that near death situation, I rededicate my life to God and to the service of humanity.
He said that driving through those two trailers with my friends alive was a testimony of God’s mercy and deliverance. Adding that the experience has rekindled hjs resolve to run for the chairmanship election of his local government and to serve the people meritoriusly.
Giving his own account Chief Igbagiri said, “We were sandwiched between two trailers and only escaped miraculously…God proved His faithfulness and mercy on our lives. May His name be praised…”
