Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the member representing the good people of Ogoja/Yala federal constituency in the Green chambers of the National Assembly, Hon Jarigbe Agom, has called for a debate between candidates of the various political parties participating in the election.
The serving House of Representative member under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also condemn the fervent attack on his personality on the social media space by supporters of the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Jude Ogbeche Ngaji.
He stated that there is no need for all the attacks and counter attacks that is going on at the moment and has asked that his supporters shield their swords and not join the bandwagon.
During a chat with journalists in Abuja, Jarigbe asked that a political debate be organised where all candidates will come and showcase themselves, telling the masses what they have achieved with tangible evidence and what they plan to do for them moving forward.
He said, “I don’t play my politics that way, I have been contesting elections and this is not a do or die affair.”
“If a man says he can do ABC, let him come out and say it and not hiding under the shadows and throwing tantrums, I for one have never been a party to the dirty politics of personality attack and is not my style,” he further stated.
“I think the best thing to do moving forward is to engage ourselves in public debates, where every key player will be seated and we talk to our people, that way all this social media jester-posing will end”.
They have been a consistent attack on the personality of Hon Jarigbe Agom on social media which has caused an uproar in the cyber space, it is on this note that civil society organizations are been called upon to organise a debate for the Ogoja/Yala federal constituency candidates in the 2019 general elections which has the incumbent Hon Jarigbe Agom of the PDP and Chief Jude Ogbeche Ngaji of the APC as candidates.
