The elective congress of the Cross River State Journalists Forum (CROSSJOF) Abuja chapter ended on a successful note on Saturday with Mr Odu Gabriel Ochang of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) emerging as the chairman.
Others who were elected to fill the various posts include, Orok Joseph (vice chairman – NTA), Odama David Okpashi (secretary – Vanguard), Ogar Francisca Ada (assistant secretary – ITV), Ukpanyang Idara Patrick (treasurer – FRCN).
Also elected into the executive committee of the forum are, Okon Ene (financial secretary – Cool FM, Nigeria Info & Wazobia), Akon Godfrey (PRO – Abuja Enquirer) and Out Lesley Mbuamuoswo (internal auditor – SheWorld Magazine).
Presenting the newly elected excos to the congress, the chairman of the electoral committee, Mr Mathias Okwe, congratulated them and urged them to live up to the responsibilities of their offices. Mr Okwe was assisted by Mrs Chizoba Okonkwo-Ogbeche and David Agba Fidel with Blueprint Newspapers respectively.
Speaking on behalf of the newly elected officials, the chairman, Mr Odu, thanked members for electing them and promised to reposition the forum and take it to an enviable height through visionary, transparent and accountable leadership.
It would be recalled that the former acting chairman of the forum was Mr Ayami Sunday of African Independent Television (AIT).
